Planning committee give approval to demolition of grade two listed barn

THURROCK Council's planning committee gave its approval to a proposal to demolish a grade two listed barn at St Cleres Hall in Stanford-le-Hope.

The decision was made at a meeting at the Civic offices last night.

The barn in question has not had a roof or trusses for some time, and the lower frame is exposed to the elements.

With the skeleton of the barn continuing to collapse the committee agreed that the barn is no longer self supporting and went with the officer recommendation for approval of its demolition.

The fate of what is left of the grade two listed structure is now up to the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
