Questioning police priorities

I read with interest the recent report from PC Yeo regarding the operation to target motorist s in two locations in Aveley which resulted in a number of fixed penalty tickets for people not wearing seatbelts.

Apparently this was in response to residents' requests!

As a resident I have to say I'm more concerned with the fact that my 14-year-old nephew was offered drugs opposite Kenningtons Park on the way to school, the fact there was a serious attack with a hammer in the park last summer in broad daylight, the fact we are plagued with mini-motos & scramblers every weekend and the fact that at least three of my neighbors have had the livelihoods stolen and not been able to work when their tools were taken from their work vans, only to be told by the police to claim off their insurance.

It is such a shame the same number of police who were involved in giving out the tickets could not spend time on these issues that really do concern the local residents.

Unfortunately, arresting criminals and/or dealing with unruly youngsters does not generate as much revenue as harassing motorists.

As per usual the motorist is the easy target for police, it does not involve any real policing and it keeps their crime figures up.

we might as well not have a police force as more and more times they are becoming traffic wardens

These are easy nicks to get their quota's up and not get a rollicking.
I remember chatting to a policeman from Scotland, who said if they needed a few nicks they could take out a speed gun and sit on a nice straight road, that for some reason had a 50mph limit and get their numbers up.
Frankly the police couldn't give a monkey's about real crimes as they involved too much work on the ground and take too long to sort out. Better to victimise motorists as they are a nice soft target and have those nice "ID badges" front and rear. Even better if it's a nice day.

Dave from Corringham has got it right and unfortunately it IS PROBABLY THE REAL TRUTH.

So, WHAT do police actually LEARN at Hendon ???...........yes we all know......how to nick motorists and forget burgularies !!!

You can't blame the police men & women you have to blame the people that give them their orders. The government is coining it in with the money they make from motorists being nicked. They have also made if very difficult for the police to actully nick real criminals with loads of red tape and paperwork.

The next government should repeal the European Human rRights act. That would go a long way to sorting out a large number of the problems the police have when prosecuting someone.

It was only brought in because Cherie Blair wanted to make a mint off the back of it.

Now the wicked witch is no longer in power her work should be undone.

What about the 2200 cautions handed out by essex police, which the majority of you voted in the politicians that made these rules. Everyone is moaning but when you keep voting the same politicians in nothing will change. Labours been voted out, but will the Conservatives do any different, they haven't over past years.
