TWO brothers who stole a car and crashed head-on into a police car have admitted a series of offences.
Craig and David Palmer were in a stolen car being chased by officers when they ploughed head-on into PC Mick Finch's van in Falcon Avenue, Grays.
The dog handler, who is based at Laindon, was knocked unconscious and had to be cut free from his police van.
The crash happened just hours after PC Finch and his German shepherd, Brennan, were awarded bravery commendations.
Electrician Craig Palmer, 25, admitted aggravated vehicle taking causing an injury accident, driving without insurance, failing to stop, drink-driving and making off without payment.
David Palmer, 21, an apprentice plumber, admitted aggravated vehicle taking and causing an injury accident.
The brothers, from Yalding, in Kent, were released on bail after the hearing at Grays Magistrates' Court. They will be sentenced next month at Basildon Crown Court.
