THURROCK residents who are affected by drug or alcohol problems now have a say in how they receive treatment thanks to a new forum set up at the OASIS Resource Centre, Orsett Road, Grays.
Set up by Thurrock Council's Drug and Alcohol Action Team in partnership with UNITES, (User Network In Thurrock Essex and Southend) a service user network run by and for people who have experienced problems with drugs and/or alcohol, the forum is the latest of a series around the county designed to let people receiving these services get involved more closely in the running of them and in planning for the future.
"The launch was a great success, everyone who attended agreed that the forum would have an important role in deciding the type of service we should be providing and the best way to do it," said Jim Nicolson, Joint Commissioning Manager of Thurrock DAAT.
The meetings are open to anyone who has a drug or alcohol issue or who are looking after a family member or friend who has. There is plenty of scope for more to come along to future meetings, which will be widely advertised.
All services are free and confidential. For further information contact the OASIS Resource Centre on 01375 374 411.
