Hospital staff in running for innovation award
STAFF from Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have come up with an innovation to help people have shorter stays in hospital - and put themselves in the running for an award.
Mr John Mullholland and colleagues have been short-listed for a Medical Technology Award in the 2008 Innovation Competition, organised by Health Enterprise East (HEE), the NHS innovation hub for the East of England.
They devised an Autologous Therapies Programme for pre and post-operative blood component management, improving patient outcome and potentially shortening stays in hospital.
Prizes totalling £20,000 will be presented to winners at a special Awards Dinner being held at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford by Dr Phil Hammond on Wednesday, April 16.
